BORGLAB HISTORY

THE EARLIEST INCARNATION of BORGLAB, on a somewhat conceptual level, fired off in Luleå - the northern, snowier parts of Sweden - with mostly dreadful equipment sometime in 2004 when I was approached by fellow hardcore band The Smackdown. For some strange, and still to this day unknown reason, they were asking me to put the finishing touches on their debut full length. In other words, mastering. So, having very little experience with that sort of stuff, I approached this mystical and mythical domain in a manner perhaps best described as opposing 'delicately', but as the band seemed determined enough, I started reading up on the subject at hand and kept on reading as I went along. The result? Pumping, loud and annoying as hell. Mission accomplished.

TODAY, BORGLAB exists in the southern parts of Stockholm. The gear's better (definitely more expensive), it's situated in a small but acoustically treated space, and with numerous more or less commercially available CDs/LPs/EPs under my belt, I'd say there's a lot more experience working behind the controls these days.

SINCE THAT FIRST GIG, and quite a few favorable reviews later, BORGLAB's been involved in the creation of a whole bunch of CD's, vinyls and iTunes releases, doing pre-pressing plant mastering, mixing projects, a few minimalist recordings, and a couple of radio commercials off and on as time permitted. And I'm still keeping up with the reading.
