ARE YOU'RE INTERESTED in having your next adventures in audio fully annihilated mastered by the most loving of hands? Of course you are! Shoot me an email and let's talk.

IN SHORT, BORGLAB's mastering services (or pre-mastering as it's also referred to) provide you and your mixes with an extra set of experienced ears, adding that final sprinkling of fairy dust and desired loudness to your tracks - that 'yep, that sounds ready' sound. Or, if you prefer and require it, a tender chiselling with big and intimidating sledgehammers. Adding a professional and cohesive wholeness to your work before it hits the pressing plant, through the use of high-end analog and digital tools, BORGLAB makes sure everything is ready for prime time before it ships out, be it for CD, vinyl, or strictly digital distribution.

AS EVERY PROJECT differs greatly in terms of needs and wants, and naturally due to the simple fact that I love doing this, there's no cookie cutter approach at work here. Ever. Every single project is assessed and dealt with on an individual basis to reach the best result. And I don't stop working until everyone's happy.

THE FINAL PRODUCT is delivered to you in DDP format, as WAV/AIFF files, and/or as a Red Book CD, either through traditional postal services or via our designated and secure FTP.

SOME QUICK GUIDELINES FOR AUDIO FILES / MASTERING:

First and foremost, try to avoid slamming your mixes through a limiter before sending 'em over, and only use two-bus compression if it's for style, color & pizazz, not for volume level - that's part of my job. By leaving some headroom in there, we might just end up getting results which retain dynamics as well as being fairly loud.

  • ZIP or RAR archived WAV or AIFF files, adhering to the specifications stated below.
  • 16 or 24 bit, BORGLAB does both but recommends the latter. If you work at 32 bit float, you can send that too, but mixing everything down to 24 bit is recommended and won't degrade your audio. It will, however, make smaller, easier-to-handle files.
  • 44.1 up to 96 kHz, and anything in between.
  • Name those files! Always carefully name each file sent for easy identification (e.g. artist, song name, vocal up versions, stem parts and so on).
  • Send details! Please include a brief text file including info such as fade positions, possible problem areas, track sequencing information et cetera.
  • Always feel free to name reference tracks early on in the process, if you have any. It really helps getting a general idea of where you want the project to go, increasing the potential of your desired result.
